Description

This customer’s barndominium building design features a single slope roof, with a significant double overhang on the back side, protecting the building’s sliding exterior doors and patio from the elements.

Practically, single-slope frames like this one are often chosen so precipitation (rain and snow) runoff concentrates on just one side of the building. In this case, that’s the front of the building — the side designed more for utilitarian access and less for leisure. This roof design, in combination with the customer’s other choices and the clear span allowed by a steel frame, allow for a second row of windows near the roofline in the open-concept living area, which act almost like skylights to let in wonderful natural light during daytime hours.

While prefab steel buildings with a single slope roof pitch may have a reputation for being purely functional — as garages or heavy machinery storage buildings — the other design choices in this custom building prove that doesn’t have to be the case. The modern kitchen, generous living space and fusion of industrial and farmhouse finish elements make this barndominium building project stylish and practical.

At Worldwide Steel Buildings, our metal building kits are fully customizable and backed by the expertise of our knowledgeable team (who will never steer you wrong when it comes to your metal roof or any other design element) as well as an industry-leading 50-year limited structural warranty on everything we manufacture.
