News - Worldwide Steel Buildings sends building to Africa to be used as school
Dear Kris and Larry,
The weather on Saturday, September 27 was beautiful as our staff and several volunteers came to load the 40 ft. container bound for Zimbabwe. Everyone worked diligently with joy in their hearts knowing that the end result would be that thousands of lives would be touched in very special ways.
We want to thank you for your contribution and very special pricing for the most important item in the huge container, the Pre-School Building. Kris, it was great working with you and we appreciate all of the kindness and advice that shared.
The Pre-School in the Box program was a complete success. We filled the container absolutely to the brim with an estimated 37,100 lbs of materials valued at over $70,000 and we are so grateful for all of the wonderful donations. Everything was squeezed in which included the following:
- 24 ft. x 30 ft. Pre-fabricated Steel building + 28 OSB boards (4 ft. x 8 ft. boards), carpet squares and all the tools necessary to construct the building.
- Furniture, school supplies, books, toys, science kit, 4 x 8 chalkboard and tack board.
- Moon chairs, wooden chairs, tables, desks, teacher supplies and medical supplies.
- Children’s clothers, 1,227 pair of shoes, 400 soccer balls, soccer uniforms, musical instruments.
- Food items: 400 50 lb bags of red wheat, pallets of cooking oil, sugar, maize and peanut butter.
- For micro businesses, there were lots of wedding dresses, tuxedoes, shoes, bridesmaid dresses, and prom dresses which will be used to generate income to help the orphans.
Enclosed is a photo collage which we hope you will enjoy and hopefully, display in your office. Once the container goes overseas (it will take more than two months) and we are able to receive photos from Africa, we will do our best to forward them to you. We anticipate a lot of beautiful smiles and joyous songs of gratitude. We all are so grateful for what you have done.
Thank you so much for making this project a wonderful success. God bless you in every way.
Sincerely,
John H. Shore
Executive Director
